Kate Amend
Title: Editor, First Position
Kate Amend, A.C.E. is the editor of two Academy Award-winning documentary features: Into The Arms of Strangers and The Long Way Home. She received the 2001 American Cinema Editors’ Eddie award for Into The Arms of Strangers, and in December 2005, Kate was honored with the International Documentary Association’s inaugural award for Outstanding Achievement in Editing.
The last year three of Kate’s films played at VIFF: Crazy Wisdom, First Position, and One Lucky Elephant. Her most recent film, Ina May Gaskin and the Farm Midwives, won the Audience Award at the 2012 Los Angeles International Film Festival. She is on the faculty of the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California and is a frequent advisor at the Sundance Documentary Labs.
